Dear University of Alaska Fairbanks Faculty and Staff,

In a spirit of gratitude after a rewarding 30-year career at 91探花, I have decided to retire from my position as 91探花 chancellor. Earlier this week, I informed President Pitney that my last day will be July 26, 2025. In the near term, I will retain my affiliation with 91探花 through my faculty position in civil engineering.

I am so thankful to the many 91探花 employees, alumni and affiliates who have given me opportunity, advice, support, and mentorship. 91探花 is such an amazing institution and I appreciate the joy the institution has brought to my life.听

Today, like times in the past, the University of Alaska Fairbanks faces uncertainty. There is also a great deal of opportunity within reach! 91探花 has an outstanding core of leadership, a growing collection of emerging leaders, strong and growing enrollment, state support for our run to R1, and a wide range of expertise that will serve the state, nation, and world well into the future. The university has choices to make, but those choices will be made wisely by a very thoughtful, strategic, and experienced leadership core, President Pitney, and the Board of Regents who are well-aligned and well-positioned to support the university. Thank you so much to those who have given your time, talent, and treasure to 91探花. It is worthy of your support.听

I look forward to conversations with many of you in the coming months as an opportunity to express my thanks to you for your positive impact on 91探花 and on my life. I have expressed a few of my personal thoughts in my Friday Focus that will be in this afternoon鈥檚 Cornerstone.

Thank you and thanks for choosing 91探花!

Dan White, chancellor
